The dressing up box

As a child I loved my dressing up box and today I was lucky enough to play dressing up again.
I had a day in the studio today doing some test shots for an upcoming project and couldn't help but have a go in some costumes we found in the studio so thought I would post my pirate bear and reindeer.
Normality will resume tomorrow I promise!

Cold comfort

I am afraid it's a bit of a lazy post today as I am absolutely full of cold. You know it's bad when you feel to ill to knit! I am firmly wrapped up in what has come to be known as my jedi coat.
My Mum knitted it for me when I was a teenager from a Elle pattern. I had asked for it not realising till I started knitting seriously myself the amount of work involved and if I had been her I would have steered me to another pattern! Its a huge wrap around jacket with no edges in mistake stitch rib, it also has the most enormous hood with a tassel on the end. As near to a knitted hug as one can get.
I will try and take a picture when I don't look so terribly ill!
In the meantime I thought I would share this with you.

If you haven't already checked out the thoroughly talented sweet pauls website I would so recommend it. He also has an online magazine full of great ideas and yummy recipes.

'Four play' free pattern

Just to let you know the pattern created by the 'four play' game has now been uploaded to my website as a freebie. Thank you so much to everyone who joined in.

Thank you also to everyone who said hello at Knitnation. Although I didn't win anything at the bingo evening on Saturday the money went to a good cause and I was sat on the same table as the lovely lily frances and she was lucky enough to win so we all shared in her excitement. Now its just sad to return to normal life sat in my little office on my own instead of being surrounded by lots of people with the same passion.

Mind melt

Its possibly the pattern writing marathon I am halfway through but I love this picture.  I just can't but wonder how this happened and also what the conversation was ?!?
Hoping sanity returns tomorrow once I have (hopefully) worked my way through most of the patterns and at least there is knitnation to look forward to.

Something lovely

I am just in the process of finishing of the next free pattern for the website but in the mean time just wanted to share this with you -isn't it beautiful! It is handmade by abigail brown  I would thoroughly recommend a look at the rest of her work as it is just as inspiring.
It was also Sheffield Food Festival at the weekend and if you come across this you should definitely try it Yee Kwan. They have all the standard ice cream varieties but also the more unusual, I had the Black Sesame Seed flavour and it was amazing!

Celebration

I just thought I would share this lovely picture with you as I am afraid I won't be posting over the weekend. It is to be a weekend of celebration as my boyfriend has just finished his second course of chemotherapy but I will be back with you next week x

Rowan Studio 24

The postman has just bought me a couple of copies of the new rowan studio so I thought I would post a couple more pictures for you
Keaton - a simple cable and lace sweater using two ends of Kidsilk Haze
Daphne - this waistcoat with cable details is worked in one piece sideways
Sandy - this waistcoat is started at the centre back where it is increased like a triangular shawl which then splits into two long pieces which form the fronts
Stevie - a top down seamless cardigan - it also features a long sleeve version

Hope there is enough here to give you a feel of the book

Rowan Studio 24

Just to let you know there is a small piece about the new Rowan Studio on the Coats website.
Is it just me that loves this time of the month when the heavy thud of magazines hitting the doormat can be heard? This morning was indeed a happy morning as both Vogue and Mollie Makes arrived. Vogue shows the trends autumn/winter and while there were things I loved there were also a few disappointments. There are magazines like Mollie Makes showing the versatility of craft and then there is this on the catwalk.

The design is by Christopher Kane and a majority of the collection featured crochet but I just think its such a shame that most of the crochet used on the catwalk is granny squares when there is so much more to offer with crochet. Admittedly the collection featured pieces mixing the pieces with plastics and there were some nice dresses but if I had the money I would sign him up to Jane Crowfoots mystery blanket club
Its Sheffield Food Festival this week so I am off to have a look, I will try and get some pictures before it all gets eaten

'four play' players

Hello Ladies
Just to let you know that the players/co designers for 'four play' have been picked and we now have a project selected - now I just need to design and knit it! The co designers are - Helen Lockhart from Scotland, Suzanne Lehner from Bavaria, Angela Lenihan from London and Emily Hill Rudder from Clayton North Carolina.
The categories were picked at random, so it was all done to luck but the design will be a simple garment in Dk weight in a blue colour and using lace.
I will try and add some pictures as I am working through the design.
Thank you all for joining in x
